I am excited about how easy it is for students to publish their work. With social networking, publishing is at the students fingertips. Blogs are another popular way for students to publish, but there is another way: publish an e-book or e-zine.
My favorite platform for student publishing in book or magazine form is Yudu. To make a book using Yudu, students upload PDF’s which are put into book form. It’s really as simple as that. What makes Yudu unique or different from uploading the same writing to the blog is that it really looks like a book.

Self Publishing with YUDU
I don’t care what subject you teach, this type of project will fit into your class. Here are a few ideas:
1. P.E. Class – Have students make a rule book for the game or activity being studied in class.
2. Business – Have students put together an advertising magazine for a business.
3. Art – Students can publish their artwork along with a description of how they created that particular piece of art.
4. Foreign Languages – Students can make a story book, along with illustrations, showcasing their knowledge of the language.
These are just a few ideas for how to use the technology in the classroom. I purposely focused on some of those subjects that are not found in the core areas because I think that sometimes it is hard to think of how to integrate technology writing projects into these classes. If you have any more ideas on how teachers could use Yudu, please share it in the comments.
